Donna Elks was born in Washington, NC on the Inner Banks and grew up in a little town next door, called Chocowinity. Growing up In the country, on a farm and/or a long winding country road, she still has a large, loving extended family of Aunts, Uncles and Cousins that still live in Beaufort County.
Donna joined the US Coast Guard right after high school and spent many years enjoying the opportunities and travel she experienced there, and made friends that she has to this day.
Currently, Donna lives in the Raleigh, NC area and works as an Operations Manager in Technology. She participates in animal rescue, she enjoys spending time with friends, traveling (anywhere), reading (anything), gardening and the outdoors, especially the water. She also enjoys history and music, and was once a Disc Jockey on local radio in Eastern North Carolina.
Her latest project is a children’s book, “Velvetdog and the Poochie Powers”—about a group of rescued creatures living on a Pumpkin farm. These animals develop super powers and they must learn how their gifts were acquired and how they must be used to spread love and kindness.
